Adapter sleeves are used to fasten bearings with a conical opening on machine shafts. They make it easy to build and dismantle bearings and simplify the bearing structure. Their taper on the pitch-surface generator is 1:12 or 1:30. They can be regular or with hydraulically assisted assembly and disassembly.
Bearings with a conical opening are mounted on cylindrical shaft necks by means of withdrawal sleeves. The bearing rests on the front of the shaft and the sleeve is pushed between the neck and the bearing. ZUM manufactures withdrawal sleeves up to 900 mm in diameter (small diameter of the cone). Dimensions of withdrawal sleeves for metric shafts comply with the DIN 5416 and ISO 2982-1 standards.
Assembly and disassembly of large bearings is facilitated by a hydraulic method. Withdrawal sleeves have grease grooves on the external surface and in the opening and they also have appropriate screwed openings to connect pressure conduits of the oil pump.
